BIO

Joe Narvaez is a Bronx New York born comic who grew up in Hillsborough New Jersey and started his comedy career near the end of 2001. After four years of college wrestling and the knack for being called “fat” during his high school wrestling days with Coach Steve Molinaro, the nickname “fatjoe” came to surface. Not to be confused with one of his favorite musical artists, Fat Joe, the name stemmed from missing his first weigh-in to compete in meets and then finally making them right before competition.

He wrestled at American International College under Anibal Nieves “the greatest coach ever” and after four years he picked up a silver medal at the Puerto Rican Greco-Roman Wrestling Nationals in 1999. As he followed his dream to be an Olympian for the year 2000 Olympic team he gained a bronze medal at the prestigious 1999 NYAC Christmas International Greco-Roman Tournament before injuring his back causing him to stop wrestling.

After numerous stories told by himself and the push to explain some of these stories on stage, a personal friend and solid supporter, actor Kevin R. Sullivan passed over the phone number that belonged  to Stephen Rosenfield.

Mr. Rosenfield is an accomplished comedy and sketch teacher at a school created by him- The American Comedy Institute. Joe studied with Stephen who set him up on stage at Caroline’s Comedy Club in New York City to make his debut in 2001.

As that went well and Joe decided to “push it along” like the old Tribe Called Quest song, things got bigger and so did the crowds. He has performed at the Laugh Factory in LA, the Comedy Connection in Boston , and various New York and New Jersey clubs to fine tune his grunts and moans about everyday life and relationships.

While working at various corporate sales jobs Joe has managed to go from coaching high school wrestling at St. Mary’s High School in Rutherford NJ in 1999-2000 to taking the step up to the college level currently as an assistant coach for the University of Southern Maine with close college friends Mike Mitchell and Head Coach Joe Pistone. With all of that going on, Joe has still managed to stay focused enough to book shows and perform regularly around his New York City area.

Michael J. Narvaez his Writer/Playwright father just finished production on his own feature film titled “.I_Believe_in_America ” in which Joe plays a small role to add some flavor amongst some of the best actors in the industry.

Comedy is what Joe has always known and is what drives him to be the best at all times.

Come join him for a drink and have some laughs at a Comedy Club near you so you can forget about everyday life and really get a glimpse of what goes on in his warped head.
